What Trovel is
Trips have a lot of moving parts. Keep the plans and the memories together, and share them with the people who are coming along.
Import an itinerary from text, a file, or a webpage and organize it into a day-by-day plan.
Share plans with your travel companions, collect moments, and track shared expenses as the trip unfolds.
Keep photos and notes connected to your itinerary in a memory book, with control over what you share.
The idea behind the app
Trovel brings together three parts of travel: planning a trip, living it with other people, and remembering it afterward. The idea is to keep those parts connected, so the itinerary becomes more than a plan. It becomes the home for the trip.
It also became a way to explore building a real app with AI. After working on i80 Agent, I wanted to take that exploration through a complete product: from the specification and design to a working app people could use.
The first working version took about 62 hours of active work over roughly two weeks. Turning it into a production app, including the iPhone app, took much longer. That work continues to teach me what building with AI makes possible, and what still needs careful human judgment.

The first specification was locked, defining the app before moving through prototype, design, and implementation.
Trovel launched at trip.i80.com after about 62 hours of active development. A working app was the starting point for the next round of improvements.
Itinerary import and sharing evolved. Work on MCP support began on August 20, opening a way to work with trips through AI assistants.
Trovel received App Store approval. September also brought work on offline access, photos, and the experience of using Trovel while traveling.
Recent releases improved how trip members browse their itinerary and add photos, along with the cards and workflows used by connected AI assistants.
Current status
Project update · October 10, 2026
Recent work has focused on making shared trips easier to use and improving the AI connection experience. Trovel continues to develop through real trips, feedback, and small refinements.
The web and iPhone releases have separate update cycles, so the latest web changes may arrive on iPhone later.
A conversation away
Trovel supports MCP, so you can connect a compatible AI assistant and work with your trips in a conversation.
